Simpson Strong-Tie® SET-3G™ High-Strength Epoxy Anchoring Adhesive
SET-3G is Simpson Strong-Tie's high-strength, code-listed epoxy for anchoring threaded rod and rebar. It is a 1:1, two-component, 100 percent solids epoxy for cracked and uncracked concrete and for grouted and ungrouted CMU. Its long working time suits deep holes and large diameters, and it is evaluated for dry, water-saturated, water-filled and submerged conditions. Code listed under ICC-ES ESR-4057 (concrete, including a Florida supplement with High-Velocity Hurricane Zone compliance) and ESR-4844 (masonry).
Key Features
- Code listed — ICC-ES ESR-4057 (AC308 / ACI 355.4) for cracked and uncracked concrete, with Florida (HVHZ) and City of Los Angeles supplements; ESR-4844 for grouted and ungrouted masonry; Florida FL15730.
- Seismic — qualified for Seismic Design Categories A through F in concrete.
- Rebar anchors — #3 through #8 and #10 rebar anchors. For post-installed rebar connections (development and splice length), use the 22 oz cartridge with a 22 oz dispenser.
- Wet and submerged installs — dry concrete, water-saturated concrete, water-filled holes and submerged concrete.
- Long working time — 35-minute gel time at 70°F for large or deep installations.
- Dust-extraction drilling — qualified with the Bosch/Simpson Strong-Tie DXS hollow-bit vacuum system, with no separate hole cleaning.
- Stainless-rod ready — ESR-4057 covers stainless threaded rod and permits it for exterior and damp exposures.
- NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 certified; low-VOC formulation (2 g/L).
- Manufactured in the USA using global materials.

Cure Schedule
| Concrete temperature | Gel time | Cure time |
| 40°F | 120 min | 192 hr |
| 50°F | 75 min | 72 hr |
| 60°F | 50 min | 48 hr |

Drill all holes with a rotary hammer. For rebar sizes, masonry values and design data, see ICC-ES ESR-4057 and ESR-4844.
Installation Tips
- Drill with a rotary hammer to the bit diameter in the table and the embedment depth your design requires.
- Clean the hole with the blow-brush-blow method and the matching Simpson wire brush, or drill with the DXS vacuum dust-extraction system, which needs no further cleaning.
- Check the expiration date. In concrete below 70°F, warm the cartridge to at least 70°F first.
- Attach the EMN22i mixing nozzle, load the cartridge into the CDT10S tool and dispense to waste as directed on the label until the mix is uniform gray.
- Fill the hole from the bottom up. For horizontal and overhead work, use piston plugs with 1/2" and larger rod; for 3/8" rod, inject to the back of the hole with adhesive tubing.
- Insert the rod, restrain horizontal and overhead anchors, and leave them undisturbed for the full cure time in the schedule before torquing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use stainless steel threaded rod with SET-3G?
Yes. ESR-4057 covers ASTM A193 B6, B8 and B8M and ASTM F593 stainless rod, and permits stainless or hot-dip galvanized rod for exterior and damp exposures. Zinc-plated rod is limited to dry, interior locations.
Can I use SET-3G in cold weather?
Only in concrete at 40°F or warmer, and the cure takes up to 192 hours at that temperature. For colder work or same-day loading, use AT-3G™, which installs in concrete down to 23°F.
Is SET-3G approved for block walls?
Yes. ICC-ES ESR-4844 covers SET-3G anchors in grouted and ungrouted concrete masonry.
Can I dispense SET-3G with a caulking gun?
No. Code-compliant installations require Simpson Strong-Tie dispensing tools. The CDT10S manual tool fits the 8.5 oz cartridge.
Are there temperature conditions where SET-3G should not be used?
Do not use it where the in-service concrete temperature can swing from 40°F or below to 80°F or above within 12 hours, such as facade anchorage in direct sun.
How does SET-3G compare with AT-3G and Strong-Bond?
Choose SET-3G for maximum bond strength, a long working time and masonry work (use the 22 oz size for post-installed rebar connections). Choose AT-3G for cold weather and same-day loading. Strong-Bond™ is for everyday, non-specified anchoring and is not code listed.
