What a Drive Pin Anchor Does

A Nailon is a one-piece anchor: a zinc body with a pin down the center. Driving the pin flares the body against the hole wall, so the anchor sets in one hammer stroke with no torque and no separate tool. That speed is the point — furring strips, electrical boxes, conduit clips, signage, anything light and repetitive. It is a permanent anchor and is not intended to be removed.

For connections that carry real load, or that need to come apart later, use a wedge anchor or a drop-in anchor instead.

About the 304 Stainless Pin

The body is zinc alloy; the pin is 304 stainless. The stainless pin resists the surface rust that shows up on carbon-steel pins in damp interiors and covered exterior work. Note that the zinc body is not stainless, so this is not a marine-grade anchor — for salt spray or splash-zone exposure, choose a 316 stainless Titen HD® screw anchor.

How to Install a Nailon Drive Pin Anchor

1. Drill a hole in the base material with a carbide bit the same diameter as the anchor. Drill to the specified embedment depth plus 1/4" for pin extension, then blow the hole clean with compressed air. Alternatively, drill deep enough to accommodate both the embedment and the drilling dust.
2. Position the fixture and insert the Nailon anchor through it.
3. Tap with a hammer until the head is flush with the fixture, then drive the pin until it is flush with the top of the head.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a Nailon anchor be removed?

No. Driving the pin permanently flares the anchor body in the hole. Removal means drilling it out or cutting the head off. If the fixture needs to come off later, use a drop-in anchor instead.

What size hole does it need?

A 1/4" carbide bit, drilled to the embedment depth plus 1/4" to give the pin room. Cleaning the hole matters — dust at the bottom stops the anchor seating flush.

Is the whole anchor stainless?

No. The pin is 304 stainless; the body is zinc alloy. That combination suits interior and covered exterior work, not direct salt exposure.
