Code-listed adhesives such as AT-3G and SET-3G must be dispensed with Simpson Strong-Tie tools and the mixing nozzle supplied with the cartridge for the installation to comply with their ICC-ES evaluation reports.

Mixing Nozzles

The EMN22i is the replacement static mixing nozzle for SET-3G™ epoxy in both the 8.5 oz and 22 oz cartridges. It does not fit AT-3G™, which uses the AMN19Q nozzle, or Strong-Bond™.

Hole-Cleaning Brushes

Dust left in a drilled hole weakens the adhesive bond, so blow each hole out, brush it and blow it out again before injecting adhesive. Choose a nylon brush by hole diameter:

Nylon ETB brushes suit everyday, non-specified work such as Strong-Bond installations. Code-listed SET-3G and AT-3G installations require the ETBS-series wire brushes and ETBS-TH T-handle named in their ICC-ES reports; each brush page lists the matching sizes.

Do I need a special tool for epoxy anchoring adhesive?

For AT-3G and SET-3G, yes. Their code reports require Simpson Strong-Tie dispensing tools. Strong-Bond is the exception and dispenses from a standard caulking gun.

Which tool fits both AT-3G and the 8.5 oz SET-3G?

The Simpson CDT10S manual dispensing tool fits both coaxial cartridges.

Which tool should I buy for high-volume or rebar work?

Use the SET-3G 22 oz cartridge with an EDT22S manual, EDTA22P pneumatic or EDTA22CKT battery-powered dispenser. The 22 oz cartridge is also the size to use for post-installed rebar connections.

Can I use the nylon brushes for code-listed installations?

No. ETB6 and ETB10 nylon brushes are for non-specified work. Installations that must meet the SET-3G or AT-3G ICC-ES reports need the listed ETBS wire brush on an ETBS-TH T-handle, with an ETBS-EXT extension for holes deeper than 13-1/2".
