Choosing a Length

Subtract your fixture thickness from the screw length to find how much thread will reach into the base material. That embedment is what carries the load, so size up rather than down when you are between two lengths.

Installation

1. Drill with a 3/16" carbide-tipped bit, going deeper than the screw will embed so dust has somewhere to go.
2. Blow the hole clean with compressed air. Dust left in the hole is the most common cause of a screw that will not seat.
3. Drive with a T25 star bit at low speed until the trim head seats. Do not overtighten — stripping the threads in the base material ruins the hold.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a trim head and a flat head?

A trim head has a smaller diameter than a standard flat head, so it sits nearly flush while leaving less of the fastener visible and requiring a smaller clearance hole in the fixture. Use it for finish work, trim, and anywhere a full flat head would look heavy or would not fit the hole.

Why 316 stainless instead of 410?

316 is the marine grade. It holds up to salt spray, splash zones and chloride exposure that will eventually attack 410 stainless. For interior or ordinary exterior work, 410 is the more economical choice; for coastal work, 316 is the one that lasts.

What drill bit do these take?

A 3/16" carbide-tipped bit, for every length on this page. The bit is smaller than the screw diameter because the screw cuts its own threads into the hole wall as it drives.

Can I remove and reinstall these?

Yes, though each reinstallation into the same hole reduces holding power as the cut threads in the concrete wear. For a full-strength connection, drill a fresh hole.
